Honoring Memories

What is an Estate Sale?

An Estate sale happens when the entire contents of a home or the majority of someone’s estate must be liquidated for a reason.

Most people relate an estate sale to a loss in the family, that’s not necessarily true.  An estate sale can take place for several reasons and they’re not always related to death or a bad transition, in fact many times they are related to an exciting new life when a couple decides to retire and move to an exciting new place or downsize into a smaller home near a beach or a golf course after the children have grown and left the nest.  No matter what the reason is, an estate sale is one of the best ways an individual can quickly liquidate an estate while getting the best value for their unwanted items.

Various reasons an estate sale is held:

  • Loss of a Family Member
  • Divorce or seperation
  • Seniors relocating to smaller locations
  • A family relocating to another state for a new career
  • A retiring couple downsizing into a smaller home
  • A retiring couple moving to an exciting new location

An estate sale has also been referred to as the following:

  • Tag Sale
  • Probate Sale
  • Trustee Sale
  • Liquidation Sale

In recent years, many companies have popped up all over the U.S. as family owned estate sale companies.  Since an estate sale takes place at the client’s home, anyone believes it’s a lucrative easy home based business to start.  Many don’t last past the first sale, because it’s so much more than just an estate sale.  Only a few companies have successfully established themselves as the leaders in the industry.

An estate sale is a unique blend of buyers and sellers coming together through a liaison that insures all parties  are mutually satisfied with the results of an estate sale.
